I decided I was going to build the most cost effective engergy efficient home possible. I spent more than a year researching, developing and designing.
Before construction began I had my plans analyzed by indpendent HERS raters, which gave the home ratings of 19 and 20. The Department of Energy’s Build America program (DOE-BAP) has expressed interest in monitering the home when it’s completed. They have provided monitoring sensors that are built into the home. They have indicated that, if they can get funding, they ((DOE-BAP) would like to lease the house for a minimum of one year, during which the house would remain empty and additional monitoring equipment would be installed to simulate human occupants.
